Virtus International Journal of Research

Introduction

Virtus International Journal of Research (VIJR) is an open access journal. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication. Readers may access, download, share, and reuse licensed content with appropriate credit and compliance with the licence terms.

This policy explains the rights and responsibilities of authors and users of articles published in VIJR across its multidisciplinary scope, including Engineering, Technology, and Applied Sciences.

1. Open Access

VIJR makes published articles freely available to readers through its official website. Readers do not need to purchase an article or hold a subscription to access its full text.

Open access enables researchers, educators, students, practitioners, and other readers to consult and disseminate published research. Permission to reuse article content is governed by the applicable licence and any separate rights notices accompanying particular materials.

Free access for readers does not, by itself, indicate whether submission or publication charges apply to authors.

2. Copyright and First Publication

Authors retain copyright in their articles and grant VIJR the right of first publication. Publication in the journal does not transfer authors’ copyright ownership to VIJR.

Authors remain responsible for ensuring that they have the authority to submit their work, authorize its publication, and make the relevant content available under CC BY 4.0. This includes identifying any third-party material for which they do not control the necessary rights.

The journal’s right of first publication is distinct from the permissions granted to readers under the article’s Creative Commons licence.

3. Creative Commons Licence

Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence, except for material expressly identified as subject to different terms.

CC BY 4.0 permits users to:

  • Copy and redistribute licensed material in any medium or format.
  • Adapt, translate, remix, or build upon licensed material.
  • Use licensed material for commercial as well as noncommercial purposes.

These permissions apply subject to the licence conditions. Users do not need separate permission for uses already authorized by CC BY 4.0. The permissions cannot be revoked while users comply with its terms. Creative Commons

4. Attribution and Reuse Conditions

When sharing or adapting licensed article content, users must:

  • Provide appropriate credit to the authors and acknowledge the original publication in VIJR.
  • Retain supplied copyright, licence, and other notices required by the licence.
  • Provide a link to CC BY 4.0.
  • Identify any changes made and retain indications of earlier modifications.
  • Present attribution without suggesting that the authors or journal endorse the user or the reuse.

Users must not impose additional legal terms or effective technological restrictions that prevent others from exercising the rights granted by the licence. Creative Commons

A suitable scholarly acknowledgement should include the authors, article title, journal name, publication details, and a link to the original article where available. Adaptations should clearly distinguish the modified material from the original publication.

5. Third-Party Material and Other Rights

Figures, tables, photographs, datasets, software, or other components credited to third parties may be subject to separate terms. Their inclusion in an open access article does not automatically place them under CC BY 4.0.

Authors must identify such material accurately, provide appropriate attribution, and obtain permission where required. Any exclusion from the article’s licence should be stated clearly in the relevant credit line or rights notice.

Before reusing excluded material, users must check its applicable terms and obtain permission where their intended use is not otherwise authorized.

CC BY 4.0 may not provide every permission necessary for a particular use. Privacy, publicity, moral rights, and other rights may remain relevant. Uses permitted by applicable copyright exceptions or limitations do not depend on permission under the licence. Creative Commons

6. Author Sharing and Repository Deposit

Authors may share and reuse the published article in accordance with CC BY 4.0. Permitted activities include:

  • Sharing copies with colleagues and collaborators.
  • Posting the published article on personal or institutional websites.
  • Depositing the published article in institutional or subject repositories.
  • Including licensed content in teaching materials, presentations, and subsequent scholarly works.
  • Distributing the article through scholarly communication platforms.

The published version may be shared or deposited without an embargo under CC BY 4.0. Reuse must preserve appropriate attribution, licence information, and any separate third-party rights notices.

Repository records should identify the deposited file as the published version and include complete bibliographic details and a link to the journal’s article page where available.

These permissions concern the published article. They do not establish separate journal rules for posting submitted manuscripts or accepted manuscripts before publication.

7. Responsible Dissemination

Authors and other users should share articles in ways that preserve their identity and publication context. Modified versions should be labelled clearly so that readers can distinguish them from the version published by VIJR.

Where an article has a linked correction, expression of concern, or retraction notice, users sharing it should retain or provide that information so that readers can assess its current status.

Repository deposit can support access and dissemination, but it does not, by itself, establish that an article is covered by a particular long-term digital preservation service.
